About Travel Bug
Let’s adventure together.
Hi! I’m Natalie.
I’m in my 30s and live in Vermont with my husband and our Bernese Mountain Dog. I met my husband over ten years ago, and you could say that’s how I caught the travel bug. While I had always loved travel (I studied abroad in Italy and went to Ecuador in high school), I didn’t always have the means or the right companion.
My husband had scuba dived in the Great Barrier Reef and Red Sea, lived in Spain and Australia, and was always thinking about his next adventure. It didn’t take long for me to become equally (and now arguably more) travel-obsessed and start spending much of my free time dreaming about our next adventure.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve traveled to five continents (just missing Australia and Antarctica!), 19 countries, driven across the United States three times, and lived in six different cities. But according to this visited countries map generator, I’ve only traveled to 8% of the world…needless to say, I have some work to do!
For years, friends and family have told me that I go on “epic vacations,” take amazing photos of my adventures, and should seriously consider a career in travel. I’ve made countless recommendations for and shared itineraries with the people I love. And I finally took their advice, started Travel Bug, and became a Fora Travel Advisor.
Travel Bug started out as a passion project that combines my love of travel and writing (I have over ten years of experience in content marketing). Not only do I want to create a space to compile all of my favorite memories and photographs from trips I’ve taken over the years, but I also want to help others turn their dream vacation into a reality. My recommendations are a mix of splurge-worthy accommodations and activities and more affordable options, which is exactly how I like to travel. It’s all about balance and you don’t always have to spend excessive amounts of money to experience the best a place has to offer. Some of my favorite hotels have been the least expensive ones!
All of the recommendations on this site—where to stay, eat, drink, explore, and relax—are my own. And the pictures are all original photography as well! If you book with me, you’ll unlock perks at 5,500+ hotels worldwide (many of which can be found in my travel guides), including amenities like resort and spa credits, complimentary breakfast, room upgrades and more. At the end of the day, I just want to share my love of travel with others and inspire you to take that bucket-list, once-in-a-lifetime trip you’ve been dreaming of.
One last thing: I’m also fully aware that traveling is a privilege. Not only have my husband and I worked incredibly hard in our careers to be able to afford to travel to these amazing places, but we also have the support of our wonderful families, friends, and dog-sitters. Whether you’ve watched Boris (our Bernese Mountain Dog!), checked on our rental unit (we’re landlords, too!), or picked up a package for us while we were away, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to go on these amazing adventures together and there would be no Travel Bug.
I’m so happy you’re here. Safe travels and see you out there!
